Leaders of all parties have assured to cooperate in running both the Houses of Parliament smoothly. This was disclosed by Lok Sabha Speaker Miera Kumar after an all party meet held on Thursday in New Delhi ahead of Winter Session of Parliament to be commenced from 22nd of this month. She said the discussion with all party leaders was fruitful and all leaders were very keen that the House transacts all business including passage of bills during the 21-day session.
She said the Opposition parties came out with 45 issues that they wanted to be discussed during the session. Though some of the parties felt that the session's duration is too short to take up so many issues, Lok Sabha Speaker said, no demand to extend the number of sittings was made.
In a reply to a question on resignation of some MPs on Telangana issue, Ms. Meira Kumar said, their resignations have not been accepted under the rule 240.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said her party wants specific discussions on making public the list of Indian black money account holders abroad, food inflation, Telangana and recent developments in Indo-Pak relations after Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's SAARC visit.
She said though there is hardly any dispute between the Government and the Opposition about discussion on issues, the problem arises on the manner in which the discussions should be held.
CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta said his party with other opposition parties will move an adjournment motion in Lok Sabha against government's alleged failure to check price hike.
Janata Dal United leader Sharad Yadav said that his party will ask for extended number of days for the session as there are many important issues to be discussed during the forthcoming session.
