In Nepal, All Nepal Industrial Trade Union(ANITU) aligned to the Unified Communist Party of Nepal(Maoist) has indefinitely shut all the industries located in Hetauda Industrial Area from Tuesday. This has lead to the shutting down of sixty-five industries after several rounds of talks between ANITU and Hetauda Industrial Organisation representatives failed to arrive at a solution. Workers in the industrial Area have been agitating for the last one week demanding at least ten thousand rupees as monthly salary and four hundred rupees per day for daily wage earners. Chairman of the ANITU, Bhishnu Rana said the union was forced to call for a shut down as the Hetauda Industrial organization has refused to provide even minimum immediate relief. Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry president Kush Kumar Joshi has said the workers’ demand of was not practical due to the problems the industries are facing. According to the Hetuada Industrial Area management Limited the industries are suffering a loss to the tune of eight crores per day and around five thousand employees have been affected.
