All necessary steps taken to enforce model code of conduct to ensure free election in Puducherry

<span style="color: #222222;">In the union territory of Puducherry all necessary steps have been taken  to enforce the model code of conduct and to ensure and inducements free election.  <br />'' <br />'' Towards active surveillance and strict enforcement 93 flying squad teams and 30 rolling static surveillance teams are functioning around the clock, covering all the 30 constituencies in the union territory as well as the 35 checkposts in the inter-state border areas who are active on the ground to maintain law and order and seize any suspicious or illicit cash, goods or liquor.<br />'' <br />'' So far in the union territory of Puducherry as a whole, that is from February 26th onwards, the date of the declaration of the election,  more than 165 instances of seizures made by different agencies such as  Police, Excise and Income Tax Department amounting to items such as cash, liquor, narcotics, gold and jewellery and freebies worth about 35 crores rupees. Out of this, 3.8 crore was a seized in the form of cash.<br />'' <br />'' More than 30,000 litres worth about 55 Lakh rupees of liquor has been seized in the union territory so far. These seizures have also lead to more than 140 offenders arrested, FIR registered in 44 cases, over rupees 8 lakhs of fine imposed and 7 cases of licences suspended for violating Excise Act and rules.  <br />'' <br />''<br />''In addition, rupees 27.4 crores of gold and jewellery has been sized for transportation, without the necessary valid documents. The value of freebies sized so far is around 3 crore rupees in the UT.</span><br />
