<span style="color: #222222;">India will complete 75 years of its Independence on 15th of this month. This year, Independence Day will take place amidst the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. In the run-up to the Independence Day celebration, All India Radio News is running a special series India@75. Today, the theme is – India, an IT Power Hub.<br />”<br />”The Government had launched the ‘Digital India’ programme with the vision to transform India into an IT Power Hub, a digitally empowered society and a knowledge-based economy. Digital India was aimed at ensuring digital access, digital inclusion, digital empowerment and bridging the digital divide. The programme has dramatically reduced distance between government and citizens significantly.<br />”<br />”In July, there were six billion UPI transactions which is an outstanding accomplishment. Unified Payment Interface (UPI) is the leading digital payment platform. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said in his Mann Ki Baat address in April that UPI has not only increased facilities but is also encouraging an environment of honesty.<br />”<br />”It is integrated with 330 banks. Meawhile, over 400 digital services are being offered by around five lakh 30 thousand Common Service Centres (CSCs) across the country. Out of these, 4.20 Lakh CSCs are functional at Gram Panchayat level.<br />”<br />”Currently, Indian IT Industry directly employs around 51 lakh people, most of which are IT skilled. According to Ministry of Electronics and IT, India is poised to be a trillion dollar digital economy and could support 60 to 65 million digitally enabled jobs by 2025-26. The projected requirement of manpower by Indian IT industry itself by the year 2026 would be around 95 lakh. </span><br />
