All India Radio, Leh has become lifeline in Ladakh region. From the day of establishment on 25th June 1971, AIR Leh journey has been glorious. In the difficult and landlocked terrain, as only means of communication for information and entertainment in Ladakh until recent, All India Radio, Leh has become part and parcel of life of Ladakhi people.<br />”&nbsp;<br />”All India Radio, Leh has become institution for revival of dying and forgotten Arts, cultural practices, folklore and languages. Similarly, people in Ladakh tune to AIR Leh for confirmation of news even today. Abdul Gani Sheikh, an 85-year-old Indian Information Service retired officer who served in AIR Leh, and other Media Units like PIB, Field Publicity at various places, said life of people in remote areas of Ladakh used to be dependant of All India Radio, Leh.<br />”&nbsp;<br />”<span style="color: #222222;">Before onset of long and freezing winters, people use to stock batteries for Radio set along with other essential commodities. Through the radio, they get to know the status of winter and opening of roads and availability of essentials after the winters. After retiring from the world of news as editor in1992 Mr. Abdul Gani Sheikh is keeping his relation with the public through Radio and books. He is author of 15 books in Urdu and English.</span><br />
