The Sikkim Government has decided that all the government constructions in future shall be earthquake resistant with necessary technical support and guidance from the Centre. Besides, a new State Secretariat building will be constructed either at Ranka or at Pangthang, on the hills opposite the capital town Gangtok. It will be having sufficient space to house the offices of all the Departments under one roof.AIR Gangtok correspondent reports that as the existing Tashiling State Secretariat building suffered massive damages in the September 18 earthquake, all the offices there have been shifted to safer places for the time being. The State Government has also asked the concerned departments to prepare the Detailed Project Reports about the damaged infrastructures in the State and send them to the Centre, within a month.
