All the five Ministers belonging to DMK, in the UPA government, today submitted their resignations to the Prime Minister.

The Ministers are – M K Alagiri, Cabinet Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers and D Napolean, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, S S Palanimanickam, Minister of State for Finance, S Jagathrakshakan, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and S Gandhiselvan, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare.

AIR Correspondent reports that the resignations of the DMK Ministers followed the pullout of the party from the UPA government over its demand that India should push for amendments to a US-sponsored resolution in UN Human Rights Council for an independent international probe into genocide of Sri Lankan Tamils
