All fee plazas on National Highways equipped with FASTag system except for following stretches, due to extremely low traffic

All fee plazas on National Highways are equipped with FASTag system in the country except a few of those stretches with extremely low traffic. This information was given by the Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.<br />''<br />''He said 816 fee plazas are operational on National Highways across the country.  Mr Gadkari said the revenue generated through user fees is collected by User Fee Collection Agencies (UFCAs) appointed through bidding in respect of Public Funded fee plazas.<br />'' <br />''He said the contract is deposited by the UFCA into National Highways Authority of India's account, which is transferred to the Consolidated Fund of India. Thereafter, revenue accumulated in Consolidated Fund of India is allocated according to budget announcements.<br />''<br />''The Minister said as per National Highways Fee (determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008 in case of Public-Private Partnership projects, the user fee is to be collected by Central Government at reduced rates of 40 per cent after completion of the concession period.<br />''<br />''In case of public-funded projects, the user fee rates are to be reduced to 40 per cent after the recovery of capital cost of the project.<br />''<br />''He said in respect of private investment projects, the revenue collected by the Concessionaire from fee plazas is retained or transferred to National Highways Authority of India as per the respective concession agreement to recover the project cost borne by the Concessionaire for the development of the project.<br />
