The Assam Government has organized an all-faith community prayer at Khanapara in Guwahati this afternoon to honour the late legendary singer, composer, Asom Ratna Bhupen Hazarika on his adyashraddha today. Similar homage-paying ceremonies are being organized across the state by different organizations. The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) will light earthen lamps across the State to pay homage to the maestro as part of a day-long programme.Bhupen Hazarika, 86, breathed his last at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Memorial Hospital in Mumbai on the 5th of this month following multi ple organ failure.State Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in a tribute to Dr. Bhupen Hazarika said he was not only a music maestro of Assam or India but of the entire world. The Chief Minister said the Assam Government will put all efforts to preserve Dr Hazarika’s works, ideas and honour his memory. He appealed to the people of the State to emulate the ideas of unity and harmony that Dr. Hazarika preached through his creative works in building a developed and prosperous state.
