In Birmingham on Thursday, the world no. 3 Indian overcame Thailand's Nitchaon Jindapol in three games 21-13, 13-21, 21-18 to enter the last eight stage. The match lasted an hour and seven minutes.
In the men's singles, India's H S Prannoy defeated Indonesian Tommy Sugiarto in straight games 21-10, 21-19 to enter the quarterfinals.
Prannoy will next take on China's Yuxiang Huang Friday evening.
