The Supreme Court today said that coal block allocation done by the screening committee was not fair and transparent.

The Apex Court said, no objective criteria was followed and guidelines were breached in coal block allocations.

The Court said, all coal block allocations from 1993 to 2010, before pre-auction era, have been done in illegal manner and it suffers from vice of arbitrariness.

It said, further hearing is required to determine whether there is a need for canceling 218 coal block allocations.
