All coaches of Indian Railways will have bio-toilets by 2nd October 2019, says Divisional Railway Manager Ashok Kumar Verma

The Divisional Railway Manager in Bengaluru Ashok Kumar Verma informed AIR correspondent that the target was to change over two lakh ordinary toilets into bio-toilets by 2022. But due to efforts made by the Railways, the target will be achieved by Gandhi Jayanthi Day this year itself.<br />''<br />''Speaking to AIR, the Bengaluru Divisional Railway Manager Ashok Kumar Verma informed that bio-toilets on trains ensures that there is no discharge of human waste on the tracks. This prolongs the life of the railway tracks, saving on the cost incurred on replacements.<br />''<br />''The bio-toilets in Indian trains are developed jointly by Indian Railways' Engineers and scientists of Defence Research and Development Organization.
