All cases pending in Allahabad HC regarding Muzaffarnagar violence transferred to SC

All cases pertaining to the recent violence in Muzaffarnagar Utter Pradesh that were pending in the Allahabad High Court have been transferred to the Supreme Court. The Apex Court today asked the state government to file a compliance report on the assistance that has been provided to the victims within a week.

The Central Government however informed the Supreme Court that it will not trample on the UP Government's powers on maintaining law and order.

Earlier in the day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav met Governor B L Joshi in Lucknow to brief him about the situation in the violence affected areas.

In a related development, State ADGP of Law and order Arun Kumar who is investigating the Muzaffarnagar violence today sought a transfer from the state, citing political interference.
