In Jammu and Kashmir, all is set for the annual Amarnathji Yatra. The first batch of Amaranth pilgrims will be flagged off from Bhagwati Nagar – the Jammu base camp of Amarnath yatris on Sunday morning by State Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang RigzinN Jora. The first batch of yatris is expected to reach Nunwan and Baltal base camps on Sunday evening and will leave for the yatra from the forward base camps on Monday.
State Minister for Industries and Commerce, S.S Slathia reviewed the arrangements made by various departments for the smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra in Jammu on Saturday. Shri Amarnath Shrine Board authorities have renewed their appeal to the Yatris not to reach the Base Camps without registration as it will not be possible for them to be able to cross the Entry-cum-Security Gates at Baltal and Nunwan Base Camps without the registration.
They have also been reminded to carry the compulsory Health Certificate introduced this year for the pilgrimage. With a view to facilitate the yatris pursuing the pilgrimage, the Department of Posts has decided to re-open the Yatri Post Offices at Baltal and Nunwan base camps for the yatris undertaking the annual pilgrimage.
The major attraction of these post offices will be 'My Stamp' services, that will enable the pilgrims to get their own photographs printed on the stamps, with the background of the snow-clad mountains. These Yatri Post Offices will provide a large range of postal services including Speed Post, Registered Post, Special covers and Special Post Cards on Amarnathji Yatra, philately products and local souvenirs.
J&K Governor, N N Vohra, who is also Chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) will inaugurate the Yatri Post Office at Baltal on June 25, 2012. Further, in association with BSNL, the Yatri Post offices will provide SIM cards to the yatris for the journey period. This is the first time, the Post offices in Jammu and Kashmir are providing the SIM cards for mobile phones. This will be a major benefit for the Yatris.
