All 46 Indian nurses in Iraq are free & in touch with our embassy officials: MEA spokesperson

External Affairs Ministry has said all the 46 Indian nurses who were in the captivity of ISIS militants in Iraq, are now free. Ministry spokesman Syed Akbaruddin said in New Delhi this evening that they are in touch with Indian Embassy officials in Baghdad and will be moved to Erbil tonight. He said, the nurses will board the Air India flight from there. The spokesman said, resources are being pushed into extricating other Indian nationals stranded in conflict zone in war-torn Iraq.

Meanwhile, BJP today said the release of 46 Indian nurses from captivity of ISIS militants in Iraq shows the government's seriousness about the safety and security of Indian nationals. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, party spokesperson Nalin Kohli said the government is trying hard to bring back home safely other stranded nationals in Iraq.

On the price rise issue, Mr. Kohli alleged that the current inflation is the result of weak policies of pervious government. He said the General Budget, which will be presented on 10th of this month, will reflect on the policies and directions of the BJP-led government towards checking price rise as well as reviving economy. He asserted that there is no shortage of onions in the country and the government is taking all possible measures to control price rise of essential commodities.
