All 11 members of the Great Andamanese, a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG), of the islands have recovered from Covid-19. The group has only 59 people in number and has settled in Strait Island while some of them are in jobs residing in Port Blair. 11 of them were found Covid positive during testing with mild symptoms and subsequently were kept in G B Pant Hospital or in Home Isolation.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">After completion of the mandatory quarantine period all of them turned negative during sample testing at different point of time.Now few of them will be shifted back to their native place in Strait Island by Andaman Adim Janjati Vikas Samiti. Meanwhile, sample testing of other PVTGs like Onges and Jarwas were also conducted at their native places and they all were found negative. Yesterday the district administration of Nicobar issued an order to impose a fine of 10,000 for making unauthorized contact with the Shompen, and another PVTG. All field functionaries posted in the tribal settlements have been advised to be to protect the tribes from COVID-19.   </span><br />
