In Assam, government has sounded an alert in 10 districts on the North Bank of Brahmaputra river. The alert has been sounded following violence and disturbances in Kokrajhar district. Meanwhile, the death toll in the Kokrajhar violence has gone upto 19. Additional nine companies of para military forces have been deployed in the districts while army is assisting the civil administration in maintaining law and order. The Assam government has appealed the people to maintain calm and not heed to rumours.
