The West Bengal Government has sounded an alert in the coastal districts of the state in view of a depression formed over Bay-of-Bengal. The Chief Minister Miss. Mamata Banerjee told in Kolkata this evening that, under its influence many areas of the coastal front are witnessing heavy rains. Parts of Hooghly, Howrah and West Midnapur districts have become vulnerable.The Chief Minister appealed the people living in low lying areas to move for safer places. Besides the administration local MPs, MLAs and other people’s representatives have also been asked to be prepared to meet any eventualities. Around 70 thousand cusec of water were released from the Damodar valley Corporation (DVC) reservoirs and 10 thousand cusec water from Chandil Barrage following heavy rains in neighboring Orissa, Chattishgarh and Bihar.
