Al-Qaida takes responsibility for coordinated bomb attacks in Iraq

Al-Qaida in Iraq has claimed responsibility for a string of coordinated bomb attacks in the country. The al-Qaida front in Iraq, which calls itself Islamic State of Iraq (ISI), said in a statement posted on website that the attacks against Shiite Muslims was the beginning of bloody days, pledging to launch more attacks in the future. Earlier, the ISI also claimed responsibility of Baghdad church attack which killed 58 people and injured 75 others. Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said that the attacks were the attempts by the terrorists and former elites of Saddam Hussien's regime to provoke sectarian strife in bid to halt the forming of a new government.
