Akhilesh Yadav presents UP Budget

In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today presented the budget for the remaining months of 2014-5. It is to the tune of above two lakhs 74 thousand 704 crore rupees which is above 24 per cent of the previous budget of the year 2013-14.Presenting the budget, Mr Yadav said that priorities have been given in the budget to attract investment for Industrialisation; implementation of irrigation projects, development in agricultural sector, skill development of youth and construction of roads in rural areas. A total of 28 thousand 411 crore rupees fiscal deficit has been shown in the budget.Our correspondent reports that the UP Government has abolished its flagship programmes of Laptop: distribution unemployment allowance and Kanya Vidya Dhan. No allocations have been made in the budget for these schemes. These schemes were promised in the assembly election manifesto of the Samajwadi Party and was implemented for one year.In his budget speech Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has said that infrastructure development is high on government's priorities. He has said that several new schemes are being initiated including Samajwadi pension scheme and allocation above 20 thousand 900 crore rupees has been made. 34 percent more budgetary allocations have been made for health and family welfare and 15 percent more has been made for education sector. 400 crore has been allocated to sugar mills in cooperative sectors for payment of farmers dues.
