Akhilesh Yadav faction of Samajwadi Party has approached the Election Commission staking claim over cycle symbol. A delegation led by party leader Ramgopal Yadav met the Commission on Saturday in New Delhi and handed over several documents in support of his group's demand.<br/><br/>Talking to reporters after the meeting, Mr Ramgopal Yadav said Akhilesh faction is the real Samajwadi Party, as it has support of 90 percent of party's MPs, MLAs and MLCs.<br/><br/>Earlier on 2nd of this month, SP patriarch Mulayam Singh had met the poll body staking claim over the cycle symbol, a day after he was deposed from the post of president by the group headed by his son Akhilesh Yadav. The poll body had sought response from both factions by 9th of this month over the contest of symbol and name of the party.<br/><br/>On Saturday, Senior leaders Shivpal Yadav, Azam Khan and Ambika Chowdhury and Assembly Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey ?met Mulayam Singh Yadav at his residence but nothing concrete came out.? SP treasurer and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Seth also met Akhilesh ?Yadav ?as his residence.?
