Akashwani Sangeet Sammelan begins yesterday

Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan, one of India's biggest classical music extravaganzas began yesterday in 24 different cities across the country. The annual music festival has been carried on since 1954 and features a galaxy of leading classical artists. <br/><br/>Folk and light music was introduced last year in the programme and this year western music has been added in the event making it a complete treat for connoisseurs. The artists featured in the concert will be broadcast over the period of one month on the National Hook up of AIR.<br/><br/>In New Delhi, Pandit Kushal Das enthralled the audience with Sitar recital while Dr. S. Sowmya mesmerised the audience with Carnatic vocal.
