<span style="color: #222222;">Akashvani Jammu is celebrating its 75th foundation today. Exactly 74 years ago it was the day when Radio Station Jammu was started as a makeshift arrangement from three classrooms of Government Ranbir Higher Secondary School, Jammu with basic aim to effectively counter Pakistan's virulent anti-India propaganda that was being made through a strong network of Radio Stations like Lahore and Peshawar.<br />'' <br />'' The first announcement came on air at 6:30 PM when Maharaja Hari Singh himself addressed the people of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. It was named Radio Kashmir Jammu. Radio Jammu was successful not only in fighting the enemy on the psychological front by effectively countering the malicious propaganda, misinformation and rumours but also acted as a strong and effective information tool to help and guide thousands of refugees by restoring their confidence.<br />'' <br />'' During the span of 74 years, the popularity of Aakashvani Jammu has increased many folds. Today also it is the strongest medium of entertainment and information for lack of listeners living across the Union Territory, neighbouring states like Punjab, Haryana, Himachal and Rajasthan but also in the areas of Pakistan occupied Kashmir as well as in Pakistan also.</span>
