A delegation of Shiromani Akali Dal led by former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today met Pakistan High Commissioner Sohail Mahmood in New Delhi and discussed the issue of forcible conversion of Sikhs in Pakistan. <br/><br/>The delegation informed the High Commissioner that the feelings of the entire Sikh community is being hurt after learning that their brethren living in the North West frontier are being coerced to convert to Islam. <br/><br/>Mr Badal and the delegation requested the high commissioner to ensure protection to the Sikhs and take action against those who are not allowing them to practice their religious beliefs. <br/><br/>They also requested that a Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee delegation be allowed to visit the affected Sikh families in Hangu district in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. <br/><br/>Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had also requested External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to take up the matter with Pakistani authorities. Ms Swaraj had assured that India will take this up at the highest level with Government of Pakistan.
