Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today held a series of informal meetings at his official residence in Mumbai, with Congress leaders and legislators on the prevailing political situation in the state following Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s resignation. AIR Correspondent reports that during the meeting, Congress workers and MLAs said that they trust and support Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan. It was also discussed that Congress Party is not responsible for Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s resignation. Chavan asked the party MLAs to stay calm and not to give any kind of reactions.Meanwhile, State Congress chief Manikrao Thakre also met party office bearers and workers at the state party office to inform them of the developments. Speaking to reporters, Thakre said the informal meeting was convened to give a strong message that there is no threat to the government headed by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.State NCP Chief Madhukar Pichad said that party Chief Sharad Pawar will attend a meeting of the NCP legislature party at 4 PM in Mumbai tomorrow to take final call in the matter.
