Congress leader Ajay Maken will be the head of the campaign committee for Delhi Assembly elections. Mr Maken's name was announced by party leader P C Chacko at a briefing in New Delhi this evening.
When asked whether Mr Maken will be the Chief Ministerial candidate of the party, Mr Chacko said, it is not party's tradition to name CM candidate before election results. He, however, said, whoever will be party's face will be better than rivals.
Ajay Maken said, the party will seek votes on the basis of good work done in the city during Congress' rule. Taking a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party, Mr Maken said, AAP has already been tested by the people and it is not trusted.
On repeatedly being asked about former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's reluctance to contest elections, Mr Maken said, Mrs Dikshit has already made it clear that she is not interested in electoral politics.
