Airstrip at Kushinagar to promote Buddhist pilgrimage

In Uttar Pradesh, a public hearing is being held today at Kushinagar airstrip on objections if any, towards establishing an International Airport at the world-famous Buddhist pilgrimage. The 800-Crore rupee project is expected to be completed in a period of three years. AIR Gorakhpur correspondent reports the new air strip will boost tourist inflow to Kushinagar ten times from the present 40 thousand. Kushinagar is where Buddha attained salvation and situated on Porbandar-Silchar section of the Golden Quadrangle highway project. The airport, when fully functional will have facilities to operate more than 20 daily flight services from home and abroad.
