AIRs portal conferred gold for outstanding content

Communication and Information Technology minister Kapil Sibal today advocated for electronic sharing of information and data by the government ministries and departments both at the centre and the state level to improve effectiveness and efficiency in delivering services.

Speaking at the Web Ratna awards for the year 2102 in New Delhi, Mr. Sibal said data is the most powerful tool to empower people.

The minister called for collaboration between government agencies in sharing of data through the cyber media. He said online sharing of data and information can ensure accountability and plug the loop holes which obstruct rendering of services. Mr. Sibal said, online data sharing system will help in detecting corrupt practices at the earliest.

Our correspondent reports, on the occasion various organizations were conferred Web Ratna awards in recognition of their excellence in e-governance initiatives through the web.

All India Radio’s portal won gold icon in the category of outstanding content on its website. The project team led by Director General AIR (News) G. Mohanty received the award.
