Airline industry on comeback trail after economic slowdown

Severely hit by the global economic slowdown, the Airline industry is on a come back trail. An estimated 40 lakh passengers traveled on airlines in October and November this year compared with 30.48 lakh in the same month last year. According to the data available with Directorate General of Civil Aviation, this raises the hope for pick up in traffic in December quarter. Airline companies attribute the sharp rise in air travel to an increase in overall traffic and a stable fuel price in the last quarter.Private carrier Spice jet officials have even gone on record saying that this quarter is going to be the best quarter in terms of air passenger demand.
