The Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram today categorically said no member of his family nor he owned any share in any telecom company at any point of time directly or indirectly.
Responding to opposition allegations, Mr. Chidambaram denied that there was any delay in giving Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance to Aircel in 2006. He, however, clarified that his family member had an investment of one lakh eighty thousand rupees in a Chennai based consulting firm.
Alleging that the opposition is making wild allegations, the minister said they were free to check the balance sheets of the company in question. Raising the issue, the leader of the opposition Arun Jaitley said the FIPB clearance was highly doubtful.
