Airbus plans to increase outsourcing from India to $2 bn

The French aviation major, Airbus plans to increase outsourcing from India to two billion dollars in next five years.This is five times of the present value.This was disclosed by the spokesperson of the External Affairs Ministry after the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to high tech manufacturing facilities of the company in Toulouse in southern France Saturday morning.Mr Modi inspected the assembly process of the Airbus A 380, one of the large commercial aircrafts.He also interacted with the representatives of Indian companies including Wipro, Mahindra, L&T and Infosys who are suppliers to Airbus.The visit of the Prime Minister to the aviation major is being seen as boost for the Make in India campaignIn an exclusive interview with our correspondent Rajeev Jain, the executive vice president of Airbus, Charles Champion said that at present, Airbus outsources about 400 million dollars worth of items from 35 Indian companies and gave details of enhancing outsourcing from India in future.The Prime Minister also visited, France space agency Headquarters in Paris. India and France are celebrating fifty years of Space Co-operation.
