Air mail service completing hundred years

Air mail service is completing one hundred years .The world's first Air mail service was flown on 18th February 1911 from Allahabad to Naini covering about five miles with postal letters. The Department of Post and Indian AirForce are making the historic day alive by creating air mail flight from Bamrauli Air port to Naini again tomorrow carrying letters to mark the occasionGovernor of Uttar Pradesh B.L.Joshi will release a set of four stamps on this occasion.The officially sanctioned first airmail carried by Monsieur Henri Piquet, a French pilot flew from Allahabad to Naini carrying 6500 letters and 40 autographed picture postcards on 18th February 1911.Huge crowed witnessed the occasion, as the day was coincided with the ongoing Kumbh mela at that time in Allahabad.
