AIR Jaipur commissions new FM transmitter to expand reach

In Rajasthan, the FM transmitter of All India Radio Jaipur's Primary Channel was commissioned today. Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Col. Rajyawardhan Rathore inaugurated the transmitter at a function in Jaipur today evening. Director General of AIR Mr. F. Shaharyar, Chief Engineer Mr. Animesh Chakravarty and other senior officers were present on the occasion. <br/><br/>Talking to media persons after the inaugural ceremony, Col. Rathore said that in the coming two years the reach of FM will be increased to 65 per cent as against 42 at present. He said that 25 new FM stations will be opened in Rajasthan which includes AIR's FM station also. The services of AIR and Doordarshan will be strengthened in the border areas of the state. <br/><br/>The capacity of newly inaugurated transmitter is 10 Kilowatt and it can be heard on 101.2 Megahertz. With the commissioning of this transmitter the programmes and news bulletins broadcast by Amer Channel of AIR Jaipur will be available in a radius of 50 kms. The audio quality of the programmes will also be much better. This transmitter will be in addition to the two Medium Wave Transmitters which are already carrying the programmes of AIR Jaipur's Amer channel.
