The Cash strapped Air India would get additional funds from government, provided it saves at least 2,000 crore rupees this financial year. Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel today said in New Delhi that based on the national carrier's performance, the government would be able to finally take a call on what would be its final support.The GoM, headed by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, was given a presentation on the carrier's plans to reduce costs and enhance savings by CMD Arvind Jadhav and Civil Aviation Secretary M Madhavan Nambiar.AIR correspondent reports, the airline, which has shown a net loss of about 5550 crore rupees in 2008-09, is seeking a total equity infusion of 5,000 crore rupees.
