An Air India Express flight—IX 812—arriving from Dubai crashed near Mangalore airport today morning in Karnataka. 160 passengers, including four infants, and six crew members were on board the ill-fated plane. The Dubai helpline numbers are 0097142165828, 0097142165829 and 00971503380114.<br/><br/>Air India official Anup Srivastava said that eight passengers of the ill-fated plane have been rescued while over 150 are feared killed.<br/><br/>According to preliminary estimate given by the eyewitnesses, the plane crash landed just before landing.<br/><br/>President, Vice-President and Prime Minister have condoled the loss of lives and expressed deep grief and sorrow at the tragic incident. The BJP Parliamentary Party Chairman LK Advani and the party President Nitin Gadkari have also condoled the loss of lives in the air crash.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister has announced a financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of those killed from Prime Minister's relief fund.<br/><br/>The function to mark the first year of UPA government in power this evening has also been postponed. UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has also expressed her sorrow at the tragic accident.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister spoke to Home Minister P Chidambaram and Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel. Patel is flying to Mangalore at the accident site from Mumbai. Karnataka Chief Minmister YS Yeddyurappa and Home Minister VS Acharya also rushed to Mangalore. The Law Minister Veerappa Moily has also left for the site.<br/><br/> AAI Chairman has said that Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will conduct full inquiry into the incident. <br/><br/> Meanwhile, the Chairman of Airport Authority of India VP Aggarwal has said that the Mangalore airport which was closed after the crash has been opened now. He also said that as far as air system and the safety parameters at the airport are concerned, efforts are on for safe operation of international flights. He said no deficiencies are found so far.
