Air Force against using air power to tackle naxalism: Air Chief

Air Chief Marshal P V Naik has said that the Indian Air Force is not in favour of using its power to tackle naxalism even as he emphasized that there is a need for counter-measures if fired upon. Emphasising that tackling Naxalism does not need the lethal power which the Air force has, the Air Chief added that whatever help is sought by the Government will be provided in this regard. Addressing a Press Conference at the Headquarters, Maintenance Command in Nagpur today, the Air Chief also said that the defence forces are deliberating on the issue of including women in combat roles, including that of fighter pilots, and that a careful and thought-out decision on the issue will be informed to the Government at the earliest.<br/>
