India today said that the boundary question with China can only be resolved through dialogue. In an exclusive interview to AIR, the Foreign Secretary Ms. Nirupama Rao said that India and China are focused on resolving the issue peacefully and ruled out war as an option. She said there are different perceptions with regard to line of actual control and conflicting territorial claims. She said that a lot ground is still to be covered to narrow down the differences and expressed the hope that progress will be made slowly but surely. In reply to a question on the recent statements by China on Arunachal Pradesh, Ms. Rao said it only intensifies the need to sit down with even more seriousness and determination to find a solution to the issue. The Foreign Secretary reiterated that Arunachal Pradesh is an inalienable part of India and that position has been made clear to China. In reply to a question on Dalai Lama, Ms. Rao said the Tibetan leader is an honoured guest in India and he is free to visit any part of the country.
