Chief Election Officer of Assam, Mr. Hemanta Narzary today said that All India Radio and Doordarshan play a major role in maintaining peace during the vital days of elections by providing information to the people in the most appropriate way. He was speaking at the Prasar Bharati Orientation Workshop for Part Time Correspondents at Guwahati today. Mr. G. Mohanty, DG, News Service Division and Mrs. Veena Jain, ADG News attending the workshop as a resource persons, emphasized on different strategies of political parties to put up sponsored news for their own motive and how to prevent airing such news in public service broadcast. Mr. B.K.Gohain, State Information Officer, Mr. Ratan Prakash, Director (News), NSD and Mrs. Rina Sonowal, Director (News) Guwahati were also present on the occasion. The two-day workshop is being held to train twenty two part time correspondents for the up coming assembly elections in Assam.
