Prasar Bharti Chairman Dr. A. Surya Prakash has said that the All India Radio and Doordarshan have national responsibility of catering the interest of the weaker sections and underprivileged class of the society. He said, different campaigns launched by the government are fully supported by Prasar Bharti through its country wide network to fulfil this responsibility. <br/><br/>He was delivering a special lecture on "Media in India – Challenges Ahead" at Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) in Shimla yesterday. AIR correspondent reports that Ajai Srivastava, Convener of the Lecture, several other prominent personalities and students were present on the occasion.<br/> <br/>Dr. A. Surya Prakash said, the literacy rate of the population is gaining momentum and therefore the circulation of newspapers was increasing in a big way. But there is no threat to print media by the electronic media in India.<br/><br/> Dr. A. Surya Prakash lauded the role of All India Radio and Doordarshan in popularizing the campaign like Beti Bachao-Beti Bachao, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Pulse Polio in the country. Students and teacher of Himachal Pradesh University asked different questions related to Prasar Bharti set up besides AIR and Doordarshan.
