All India Radio is commencing its Karimnagar FM relay station in Andhra Pradesh today. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will be inaugurating the Karimnagar FM relay center from the studios of All India Radio, Hyderabad. The interim set up of 1 KW transmitter will be formally inaugurated on 102.3 MHz with an aim to provide quality coverage of All India Radio programmes to Karimnagar Town and surrounding areas in Kariminagar district up to a radial distance of about 40 kms to cover about 7.11 lakh populations. The permanent set-up of 5 KW-transmitter will be set up within 6 months at a total cost of Rs 2.80 crore to serve about 16 lakh people in 60 kms radial distance. The FM centre will relay programmes of Agriculture, Youth, developmental programmes and News from Hyderabad from 5 to 11 pm every evening.
