All India Muslim Women Personal Law Board has decided to petition the Supreme Court to ban triple talaq. <br/><br/>Underlining that instantaneous talaq is in contravention of tenets of Quran, President of the board Shaista Amber said in New Delhi that women be allowed to seek divorce. <br/><br/>She said the organisation will also seek punishment for men who arbitrarily give triple talaq so it could act as a deterrent. <br/><br/>She also criticised All India Muslim Personal Law Board, an umbrella organisation of Muslims, for defending triple talaq in the Supreme Court. Ms. Shaista said her organisation was opposed to a Uniform Civil Code.
