The aim of Public Service Broadcaster like AIR and Doordarshan, is to be correct, actual and non-sensational. Delivering his address at an Orientation workshop for Part Time Correspondents, the Chairman of the Press Council of India, Justice G N Ray said in Kolkata today that AIR and Doordarshan correspondents should show a lot of restraints while disseminating news during the forthcoming elections in West Bengal and other parts of the country. In his address, Mr.G.Mohanty, Director General (News), All India Radio, said that people still rely on AIR and doordarshan news for authenticity and balance. He said, despite the presence of many TV channels, AIR and Doordarshan has been able to hold itself against all competition.
