AIIMS’s doctors can now access to CT scans, X-rays & MRI results on smartphones

The doctors at All India Institute of Medical Science’s Trauma Centre now can access to the CT scans, X-rays and MRI results on the smartphones and smarter computer software. The institute has installed a software called Picture Archive Communication System, which allows doctors to check on scan results even when they are off-duty, thus reduce the waiting period for patients.

The Chief of IT services and consultant in Neurology, Dr Deepak Aggarwal said that this new system will help specialists assist resident doctors even after duty hours and in turn, the junior doctors can administer the necessary treatment faster. He said the system will also be expanded to include a web-based monitoring system for patients to reduce any chance of error in blood transfusions.

AIR correspondent reports that the AIIMS Trauma Centre is the first in the country to introduce such a monitoring mechanism.
