AIIMS to set up separate facility to cater to outdoor patients'

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi, plans to have a separate facility to cater to ever-increasing inflow of out-patients. The country's premier institute also started work on its campus in Jhajjar in Haryana and outreach OPD services are being made available for patients.

Prof R C Deka, Director, AIIMS, told in a press conference in New Delhi that patients from across the country come to AIIMS for treatment and that there was a need to expand facilities at the campus to cater to the growing needs of the people. He said that it is still at planning stages, but will build the facility soon within the campus.

He also said in the last year, AIIMS attended to over 25 lakh patients in OPD and casualty ward, while it admitted over 1.7 lakh people
