In Maharashtra, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Nagpur in collaboration with IIT Jodhpur and Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Nagpur has indigenously designed & developed a model for effective tracking and monitoring of COVID-19 positive and suspect patients.
”
”This device is in the form of a smart wristband. It is conceptualized by Dr. Prathamesh Kamble, Assistant Professor, Physiology, AIIMS Nagpur.
”
”Dr. Kamble informed that, this wristband can provide mobile free operation, using a geo-fencing technology which will provide real time warning on any breach in quarantine zone. The wristband, in addition, will provide real time, objective and reliable data of vitals of the wearer like the temperature, pulse rate, respiratory rate and the oxygen saturation, so that the quarantined person will get a health alarm thus helping them seek early medical help. This move will warn the monitoring personnel like the local authorities and officials.
”
”Director of AIIMS Nagpur, Maj Gen (Dr) Vibha Dutta, said that tracking and monitoring all the contacts is a very labour intensive procedure, the newly invented wristband will definitely make this task much easier and cost effective.
