A significant milestone towards industrialization of the State was achieved by Assam Industrial Development Corporation with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M/s Kohinoor Pulp & Paper Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata in the presence of Assam Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi in Guwahati today. It is the second mega project in the State after the 1,100 crore rupee J. P. Cement Project in the private sector.<br/>Kohinoor Pulp & Paper is coming up with a mega Greenfield pulp and paper manufacturing unit at Industrial Growth Centre at Matia in Goalpara district with a capital investment of 1,500 crore rupees and production of 200,000 MT per annum of writing and printing paper through a completely environment friendly process. The unit will give employment to 1,100 people directly and more than 50,000 people indirectly. The unit is expected to be commissioned by December, 2012.
