The All India Congress Committee, AICC today passed a condolence resolution on the untimely demise of Union Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh. The resolution said that Deshmukh's sudden and untimely death was a huge loss not only for Maharashtra and Congress but for the country's public life.

It noted that Deshmukh reached the high position after starting his public life from grassroots of Panchayatiraj and said that Deshmukh carried out all his responsibility deftly while being Chief Minister in the state and Union Minister.

Earlier, Congress President Sonia Gandhi hoisted the tri-colour on the occasion of Independence Day without any celebration as the AICC mourned the untimely demise of Deshmukh.
