The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has announced Pankaj Bora as the ruling Congress nominee for the Rajya Sabha by-elections in Assam to be held on 22nd of this month. Mr. Bora presently Advisor to the Chief Minister, was the Education Minister of the State from 2001 to 2004.

The Rajya Sabha bye-elections for the State had to be conducted due to the death of sitting MP Silvius Condopan on 10th October this year.

Today is the last date for filing nomination papers. The scrutiny of nominations will be held tomorrow. Withdrawal of nominations is on 15th of this month.
