In Tamilnadu, the ruling AIADMK has captured the posts of Mayor in seven places and is leading in three places. DMK has finished second and Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam led by Actor politician Vijayakant has forfeited deposit.All the winners are leading with a high margin. According to the State election comission summary which was released at 6.51 pm out of the 13 thousand 592 posts, AIADMK has won in 5739 seats of which 3076 is for town panchayats, 1674 posts in, municipalities and 304 in corporations.DMK is in the runner up position with 3099 seats. The DMK which was in the second position during the afternoon overtook the independents and have maintained the runner up line. Till now Independents are in the second runner up position with 2705 seats to their credit. The Congress has scored 602, the DMDK 564 and the BJP had secured 251 seats.Reacting to the results of the local body election, the DMK Chief Mr. M. Karunanidhi has said that it is not exciting for a ruling party to win a local body elections. Replying to another query, he said that if necessary, he would give his advice on the Koodankulam issue. The former Chief Minister left to Delhi Friday evening.
