In Tamil Nadu, ruling AIADMK has retained the Tiruchirapalli West Assembly seat for which bypoll was held on October 13.AIADMK’s M. Paramjothy defeated his nearest rival DMK’s K N Nehru by fourteen thousand six hundred and eighty four votes. Paramjothi polled sixty nine thousand twenty nine votes and K N Nehru got fifty four thousand three hundred and forty five votes in the byelection.Talking to press persons Sh Paramjothy said that he is thankful to his party chief and Chief Minister Selvi J Jayalithaa and the people for his victory.The seat fell vacant as the sitting MLA and State Environment Minister Mariampichai died in a road accident near Padalur on May 23.
